Following the literary lineage of Horton Foote, Tennessee Williams, Eugene O’Neill, and most recently Tracy Letts, this play pays homage to the time-honored American dramatic convention of the unhappy family gathering to bury the hatchet and put its history to rest. In telling the story of the adult Lafayette children returning to their crumbling Louisiana childhood home to liquidate the assets of their inheritance, Jacobs-Jekins shows us that these scarred and squabbling siblings unearth far more than they inter. The result is an acid-soaked exorcism of Lafayette family secrets...and perhaps a few of our own.
